The Fifth Pillar of Islam

Hajj Is Fard — When You Are Able

Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, obligatory for every Muslim who is physically and financially able to undertake the journey. It is the ultimate act of submission, drawing millions of believers together in the plains of Arafat to stand before Allah.

At Safa Caravan, we have been facilitating Hajj journeys for UK-based pilgrims for over 15 years. We understand the spiritual weight of this responsibility — and we take it seriously. From your very first enquiry, you will have a dedicated advisor who knows the rituals, the logistics, and the road ahead.

Every Safa Caravan Hajj package is ATOL Protected, giving you complete financial security and peace of mind. Our groups are small by design, so no pilgrim is ever lost in the crowd.

Your Journey

The Hajj Programme — Day by Day

Every Hajj follows the same sacred sequence of rituals. Here is how your journey with Safa Caravan unfolds.

1
Day 1–7
Arrive in Madinah

Fly from London Heathrow and arrive in the City of the Prophet ﷺ. Settle into your hotel, offer prayers at Masjid Nabawi, and visit Rawdah, Quba Mosque, and the historic Baqi cemetery. Your scholar leads daily spiritual sessions.

8
Day 8 — 8 Dhul Hijjah
Yawm at-Tarwiyah — Travel to Mina

Don your Ihram and travel to Makkah for Tawaf al-Qudum and Sa’i. Then proceed to Mina and spend the day and night in prayer, remembrance, and preparation for the greatest day.

9
Day 9 — 9 Dhul Hijjah
Yawm Arafah — The Heart of Hajj

Travel to the plain of Arafat and stand in prayer and supplication from noon until sunset — this is the core pillar of Hajj. After sunset, proceed to Muzdalifah to collect pebbles and offer Maghrib and Isha prayers combined.

10
Day 10 — 10 Dhul Hijjah
Yawm an-Nahr — Eid al-Adha & Sacrifice

Stone the large Jamarat pillar at Muzdalifah, then proceed to the sacrifice. Your sacrifice is arranged on your behalf. Shave or trim hair, exit Ihram, and return to Makkah for Tawaf al-Ifadah and Sa’i.

11
Days 11–13 — Ayyam at-Tashreeq
Mina — Stoning the Three Jamarat

Remain in Mina and stone all three Jamarat pillars each day at the prescribed times. Your scholar and guide accompany the group throughout. Evening time is for reflection, dhikr, and rest in your tent.

14
Days 14–21
Makkah — Ziyarat & Tawaf al-Wida

Return to Makkah hotel for additional Tawaf, guided Ziyarat of Makkah’s historical sites, and personal worship time. Before departure, perform the farewell Tawaf al-Wida. Transfer to Jeddah airport for your return flight to London.

Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you book your Hajj journey with Safa Caravan.

We strongly recommend booking as early as possible — ideally 8 to 12 months before the Hajj season. The UK has a fixed Hajj quota allocated by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj, and spaces are distributed to licensed operators on a first-come, first-served basis.

For Hajj 2026 (expected June 2026), we recommend registering no later than January 2026. Many of our packages were already oversubscribed for Hajj 2025 by November the year before. To avoid disappointment, contact us today.

Both packages include flights, visa, full ritual guidance, accommodation in Makkah, Madinah, and Mina, and 24/7 support. The core spiritual experience is identical — all Hajj pilgrims perform the same rites.

The Premium package upgrades the comfort level significantly: you stay in 5-star hotels closer to the Haram, your Mina tent is air-conditioned and private, meals are full board, transfers are private coach rather than shared, and your group size is capped at 15 pilgrims maximum. Premium also includes airport lounge access and a personal guide throughout.

Saudi regulations require women under 45 years old to travel with a Mahram (husband or male relative who cannot marry them). This is a condition of the Hajj visa.

Women aged 45 and over may travel in an organised group without a Mahram, provided they travel as part of a recognised tour operator group — which Safa Caravan qualifies as. We handle the relevant declaration as part of the visa process. Please contact us to confirm eligibility based on your specific circumstances.

Yes. All Safa Caravan Hajj packages are ATOL Protected under the Civil Aviation Authority’s Air Travel Organiser’s Licence scheme. This means that if your travel company goes out of business before or during your trip, you will either be able to complete your holiday or receive a full refund.

We also recommend that every pilgrim takes out comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and medical evacuation. We can advise on suitable policies for pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.
